The Community Language School, housed in the Center for Language Teaching Advancement (CeLTA), is dedicated to support, maintain, and enhance global competence in communities across Michigan, the United States and globally. We offer a variety of language programs for preschoolers (ages 3-6), children (ages 6-9), pre-teens & teens (ages 10-14) and adults (18+).
Our language programs are taught by engaging and dedicated instructors. Students are provided with a great venue to connect, meet new people, learn as many languages as they would like, acquire an in-depth understanding and appreciation of cultures around the world and have fun! We believe in sustained long-term growth of our lifelong learners by offering programs that are flexible and affordable.
We collaborate with area elementary schools to facilitate enrichment programs that introduce youth to different languages and cultures. Our goal is to not only contribute to the educational experience of our youth by strengthening ties and pathways to higher education but also empowering them to function in a global environment.
We conduct culture events which introduce participants to cultures around the world through interactive activities focusing on language, cooking, craft, and movement. Our culture events are open to the public and are free of cost.

"Our professor was wonderful! She engaged everyone in the class which is hard to do with people being at different experience levels. She always included time to speak to others in Spanish, explained the material well, and really focused on improving our communication skills."
Participant Adults Program

"I think my child expanded his vocabulary and confidence in using a new language. More importantly, he had fun in the class, and because he had fun I think he will look forward to taking additional classes in a new language."
